180 Students Get Education On Scholarships In US

Islamabad, About 180 Pakistani students will get education from universities of the United States of America in the Fulbright Scholarship Program this summer. The Fulbright Program is the leading academic program of the US government. These awards are funded by the US State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and cover all travel, living and tuition expenses towards achieving a Master or PhD degree.

United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has organized a pre-departure orientation (PDO) on Friday for the departing students. USEFP has issued instructions to the students regarding program, visa regulations, American culture, US higher education and campus life and adjusting in the United States as a new student. Some of the educational institutes presently functioning for particular organizations in Pakistan, also shared their experiences with the departing students..

Richard A Hoagland, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Islamabad presented an official send-off after the orientation program. It is the lengthy tradition of United States to accept international students and then celebrate to bring the students to the campuses and country.

According to Hoagland, when Pakistanis sit side-by-side with Americans in the classroom and create new ideas, challenge old limits and gets knowledge about each other and also makes lifelong friends. Senior US Embassy officials were also there in the event.
