A lecture was delivered by Dr. Hasan Askari Rizvi to the students of M.Phil and PhD at Lahore College of Law for Women (LCLW). He stated that the problem of militancy and extremism had been created during Zia’s era and was still persistent. At that time many foreign policies also called forth these situations.

Further, he told that after 9/11 the scenario of Pakistan foreign and domestic policy had been given a new dimension and the fruit was being reaped by us. Every one today seeks historical and religious back ground to uphold his mission, this trend is more common in Pakistan and especially in South Asia, he added.

According to Dr. Hasan, we had three categories of cliques 1 political and religious party which contests elections 2. We have stereotyped religious leaders; most of them operate their missions from madaris 3. Finally, militant cliques.
