Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) was established in April 1937 under the Indian Government Act 1935 and now considered as the oldest Public Service Commission in the country. This Act was also governed after independence in 1947. The function of the commission was also defined in the 1956 and 1962 constitution. When one unit commissioner was created then this commission was also changed as West Pakistan Public Service Commission before July 1, 1970 and the dismemberment of the unit was also re-appointed to the Punjab Public Service Commission.

The responsibility of the commission was fixed as the direct recruitment of various vacancies under the Government of Punjab. This commission was set up according to the provisions of the Punjab Public Service Commission resolutions 1978 and the Punjab Public Service Commission (Function) Rules 1978. The commission enjoys the status of a special institution and falls under the administrative control of S&GAD government of Punjab.

Every year PPSC held examination of graduate persons who want to join through jobs of superior level such as professors or lecturers etc. Now examination has been scheduled to be conducted in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan for the period from 06-07-2012 to 17-07-2012.
