For the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the UK is actually the founding member and is also one of the NATO’s major European Maritime, land powers and air. It is the third country in list of the NATO’s defense expenditure. Actually the UK is a member of the European Community from 1973. Actually UK is supposed to be the permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

The Armed forces of British are charged to protect the United Kingdom and also its overseas territories to promote the Britain’s security interest in wider area and also to support the international peace keeping efforts. There are approximately 6000 royal Marines commandos that are in charge of the UK’s independent strategic nuclear arms that also have four trident missile submarines. In NATO there is more then 99,200 British Army, 42,000 royal Air Force and with Royal Marine and Royal Navy participants for many different operations. According to a recent research there are approximately more then 9 % females in the British Armed Forces and there are approximately 4% of the British forces that represent the ethnic minorities.

United Kingdom is basically a country that work and stood shoulder and shoulder with the U.S. Actually the United Kingdom is making its friendship stronger with the United Sates that is the reason UK has the second largest armed force in the Afghanistan and is more then 11,000 approximately.
