HEC Close PhD Programs 2017
Islamabad, Higher Education Commission was set up for the improvement of higher education and it maintains the quality of the higher education in the government and private universities of Pakistan. HEC started the recognition of the universities and also started the PhD programs in various universities. Now HEC has stopped 110 PhD programs in the government and private university because their standard was not up to mark.
The chairman of the HEC has given this statement while addressing with a seminar names as ‘Higher Education in Pakistan: Status, trends and Prospects’, which was arrangement by the Institute of Policy Studies, IPS Islamabad.
To organize the seminar, the main objective was to discuss the prevalent scenario, coming openings and challenges, which are faced by the higher education sector in Pakistan and the necessary strategies and steps being taken up by the commission to solve the matter. He further added that the present focus of the higher education commission is that improvement of the quality of higher education and the standard of the research work in Pakistan and ensure that research being produced for the betterment of the country and society.
