HEC First Women’s Rifle Shooting Contest Won By GCU

Lahore, Higher Education Commission is responsible for executing high standard of education and research work in the universities and high ranking educational institutions in Pakistan according to criteria HEC set for them.

Now HEC took step for organizing different sports including All Pakistan First Women’s Rifle Shooting Championship. Various teams of universities took part in this championship. Government College University Lahore stood victorious in this championship by securing first position. The team of GCU consisted of players like Madhia Ashraf, Sadaf Mehboob and Noor Saleem showed their talent and succeeded in winning the championship. The GCU team clinched 13 gold medals out of 20 gold medals including 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals in events like clay pigeon, skeet, down the line, free pistol and trap.

Punjab University Lahore got second position and COMSATS institute got third position in the championship. Sadaf Mehboob of GCU was declared the best shooter of the championship.

Vice Chancellor of Government College University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rehman appreciated the marvelous performance shown by their team. He also emphasized both boys and girls to participate in healthy activities like sports. Sport gives health to mind which is quite necessary for brilliant students.
