HEC & Turkey Agreement for PhD Scholarships

Turkish Council of Higher Education (COHE) invited the HEC Pakistan and the two member delegation of HEC, Pakistan visited Turkey. Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of HEC led the delegation and visited Ankara to sign the Document of Understanding. Under this agreement, they will provide 80 PhD slots to Pakistani students in the top ranked Turkish Universities.

According to the agreement, COHE Turkey will give 80 PhD scholarships in the top universities of Turkey and they will bring the tuition to minimum and HEC will facilitate the travel and provide the stipends to the students. The DoU was signed by Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC Pakistan and Prof M. A. Yekta Sarac, President COHE Turkey.

The Chairman of HEC discussed various other opportunities with the president, COHE and members of the council including the mobility grant program entitled as ‘Pak-Turk Researchers Mobility grant program and under this program, HEC will find the traveling of the Pakistani researchers to Turkey and COHE will fund the travel of Turkish researchers to Pakistan.

The Turkish universities will make the coordination to establish the Thematic Research Center in Material science in Pakistan and it was also discussed that the Technology Park will be established in Pakistan and Turkish Universities to provide the technical assistance.

The president of COHE showed his great commitment in order to support Higher Education Institutes located in Pakistan for the joint research activities and produce multi disciplinary research of national and international significance of collaboration and solve the problems and anticipate the needs of the indigenous and global industry and society. The president shared the detailed presentation of role of COHE and the future roadmap.

Chairman of HEC visited the Middle Eastern Technical University (METU) and it held the meeting with the Rector and Deans. METU has about 275 Pakistani students and they are getting education at the bachelor, master and PhD programs and they discussed the faculty exchanged programs and made the collaborative research work in the mutually beneficial areas. The chairman of HEC visited the Techno Park at METU and he met over 100 Pakistani students and the delegation also visited the Bilkent University where 19 scholars of HEC are carrying out their PhD research work in the Business, Engineering and National Sciences topics.
