How to Write Cover Letter for Job?

Writing a cover letter for your desirable job is also a difficult task and it also leaves good impression on the recruitment committee because the approval or rejection of your letter and CV depends largely on your way of writing letter. If you present your skills, abilities and achievements successfully and in reasonable manner through your covering letter then the chances will get high of your selection for the desired post.

  • Take Your Time

Write a cover letter is equally important as write your CV or resume. Most of the candidates write cover letter hastily and do not give so much time to cover letter as it is needed which depicts their poor dedication to your task. The job application with poor cover letter will not be entertained by the recruitment committee.

  • Proper Formatting

Make format of cover letter properly by setting margins of 1 to 1-1/2 inches from all sides then select most appropriate font like Times New Roman in 12 point size which will be pleasant to look at, now type header at the top center of the page including personal information and contact such as name, address, cell number and email.

After giving some blank space and then type proper salutation like “Dear Mr. Khan” or” To Whom It May Concern” when you are unable to obtain exact name of the concerned person. Always keep remember to put colon after that.

  • First Paragraph

After that, start first paragraph of the cover letter. Write the proper designation for which you are applying. Briefly explain the reason as why you are interested in that position or particular company but do not go into details. Then write about the highest degree you have achieved in a precise sentence. Remember that first paragraph will not exceed to three to four sentences.

  • Skills

In next paragraph, write about your skills and abilities, that should be in accordance with the job requirements or add. You can also provide some precedence of your top qualifications and skills such as job titles with company names where you have been working is a plus point. It can be written into various paragraphs according to the length of the sentences. If an applicant has vast experience, it may exceed to five sentences.

  • Employment History

You should mention the complete history of your previous employment, it is highly important because it gives you additional benefits to be considered for the desired position. More experience will surely increase the chances of your success.

  • Ending up Nicely

When you write down all important and relevant stuff, refer to your resume or CV enclosed with the cover letter. Inform the HR that you will attend their office for an interview at their convenient time or whatever is suitable for you. Mention your contact number where they can make contact with you, although it has been previously included in your CV.

Thank the concerned authority for offering you a position and taking your job application. Finally type “Sincerely”, Four lines below you should type your full name; add one more space and type ‘Enclosure’ depending upon the number of the pages you are sending. In the space in-between ‘Sincerely’ and ‘full name’ put your official signatures.

  • Proof Read

At the end, do proof reading many times in order to make correction of any mistake.
