44% to 53% children from private schools of Islamabad are drug addicts, according to a report presented in the meeting of Senate committee.

It is told in the report that the drugs are provided to the students by their colleagues or teachers. The committee has called IG, chief secretary and home secretary in 15 days with complete report by relevant departments.

More than half students of private educational institutes of Islamabad openly use the drugs in schools. Even many students of 8 years old also use drugs. The drugs are available from school canteen and hawkers. The report was surprising for many members of the committee.

Maria Sultan, head of private NGO SASSI, told the committee that many children of well off parents are addicted to drugs. Chairman committee Rehman Malik said that 10 million people of Pakistan are drug addicts and now this curse has also reached the educational institutes of Islamabad. Every school has to submit ‘drug free certificate’ and it is bigger problem than terrorism.
