KU Agreed Budget Rs3, 314 million 2012-13

Karachi, The Karachi University (KU) has given approval to the budget of Rs3, 314 million recommended for the financial year 2012-13, out of which Rs2,645 million will be provided by the government.

Karachi University will increase PhD allowance to Rs10, 000, chairmanship allowance to Rs5, 000 and deanship allowance to Rs6, 000. Karachi University Syndicate, under the supervision of Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser held a meeting on Sunday, to conclude the increase in allowance.

During the meeting, the finance department of the university also declares that the university has not been provided the last quarter of its annual allowance from the government. The participants of the meeting were agreed to adopt policy for release of remaining amount in shape of allowance immediately.

The KU Syndicate has also made up their mind to minimize the grant for electricity to the residents of the campus by increasing the rate of per unit charge

Campus justification committee has also been established and Abdul Haseeb Khan has been nominated as convener. The committee is also included with Prof Dr Fayyaz Vaid, Prof Dr. Majid Mumtaz, Dr. Haris Shaoaib, Ghazal Khawaja and Haji Hanif Tayyab. The committee has the mandate to settle human resource matters relating to teaching and non teaching staff of the university.

An execution report for the above mentioned matters will be presented by the Finance Section of the university in the next meeting of the syndicate. In addition, a committed has also been set up to look into the matters concerning with canteens located in Karachi University. There are expectations for increase in rates on the basis of requirements.
