Inception of the University

Mar 07, 2005

The University was chartered through Ordinance No. 1/2005, Government of Balochistan, Pakistan.

Mar 13, 2005

Mr. Shaukat Aziz, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, handed over the premises of Ex Lasbela Textile Mills for the University and he announced an initial grant of Rs.30 Millions for its immediate expenses.

Jun 21, 2005

The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Jam Muhammad Yousuf also announced a matching grant of Rs. 30 Millions on the same day. And on same day the vacant parts of LTM buildings were taken over from Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation.

Jun 13, 2005

After necessary survey & evaluation, work on building & connected facilities started on. Recruitment of experienced faculty & skilled staff was also initiated in accordance with standard terms & conditions of Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan.

Aug 16, 2005 todate

The Chancellor constituted the Senate of LUAWMS that would be the supreme to date body entrusted with governing of the University. Since the establishment of LUAWMS, four Senate meetings have been convened and various resolutions regarding curriculum development and faculty development have been approved by the Senate. The Senate meetings were chaired Chancellor / Governor Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani.

Nov 30, 2005

Preparations were made on war footings and admissions were announced in Sep 2005 which were finalized by end of October 2005 and classes of BS Marine Sciences and DVM were started. Development and rehabilitation works continued side by side.

Mar 06, 2005

First admissions were made to BS Agriculture, Economics and English also. The Senate has decided and directed the university to initiate the development of Faculty of Water Sciences during the session of 2007-08 and the efforts are being made in this regard. The new admission in all disciplines for 2007-08 will be announced in the month of August 2007 and the classes for new session will start from mid of Sep 2007.

Projects and Works Department

The Project and Works Department is responsible for new constructions, and repairs/ maintenance of the already constructed buildings and roads throughout the campus, including the residences of faculty and staff of this University.
SCOPE OF WORKS

Look after and maintenance of the existing residential and non-residential buildings.
Maintenance of Water supply system of the university, which consists of six tube wells, two overhead, kilometers long pipelines etc. These services are provided round the clock.
Maintenance of kilometers long roads (spread over colonies, offices, hostels and farm) leading to and fro residential and non-residential buildings.
Maintenance of different kinds and types of furniture of residential and non-residential buildings.
Maintains a high quality underground sewerage system
Maintenance of high power and sophisticated electrical installations like transformers connected with sub-stations.
Maintenance of room air conditioners + water coolers etc.
Maintained of generators for tube wells, and other important functionaries in case of electric shut downs. All sorts of routine complaints are received here during the morning shift and evening shifts while the 3rd shifts is being carried out emergency complaints.
The department is involved in the arrangements phase of all the functions like Seminars, and Workshops etc. being held by different faculties of the University
The department is also responsible for construction, execution and documentation of new works.
MAINTENANCE SORE: The department maintains the store and is responsible for purchase and issue of store items.
COMPLAINT CELL: A complaint cell is also maintained by department. All sorts of routine complaints are received here during the morning shift and evening shifts while the 3rd shifts is being carried out emergency complaints.
