LCWU Going to Celebrate 90th Anniversary

Lahore, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) is preparing to celebrate its 90th anniversary next week. Three days celebrations will commence from May 3, 2012.

Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif will be introduced Women Institute of Leadership and Learning (WILL) in the campus and later on will attend a seminar in the Auditorium. Governor of the Punjab and the Chancellor of the University Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa, on 4th May, will inaugurate an event where exhibitions of Painting and ceramics and introduction of booklet including life history of Alumni will be seen. Medals will be given to identify the attainments of old students.

Lahore College for Women was established on 5th May, 1922 then it was upgraded to Women University in 1922 and was affiliated with the University of the Punjab with undergraduate programs in 18 faculties. LCWU has got the status of being one of the pioneer girls’ degree colleges of Pakistan since 1940.
Lahore College for Women University is giving attention to the promotion of some of the most challenging faculties in the world including Information Technology, Mass Communication, Environmental Sciences and Pharmacy. Before only two departments, Physics and Botany were offering Masters in their relevant fields. During 1990 to 2002 in the direction of Professor Dr. Bushra Mateen fourteen disciplines in four years degree program were also started.
In the Year 2010, Punjab Government privileged this University by affiliating Govt. Islamia College for Women, Cooper Road, Govt. College for Women, Samanabad Lahore and Govt. Degree College for Women, Gulberg Lahore with LCWU.
