PACADE & UNESCO Stressed Media to Focus on Education

Lahore, Pakistan Association for Continuing & Adult Education (PACADE) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) mutually organized a meeting on World Press Freedom Day held at a local hostel on Friday. The members attending the meeting asserting the media to pay attention to the matter concerning with education and literacy.

UNESCO director in Pakistan Dr. K.K. Nagata chaired the meeting while Mr. Inayatullah. PACADE President, Arshad Saeed Khan, Senior National Specialist Education UNESCO, Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal Punjab University’s Dean Faculty of Education, journalists, students and representatives of many NGOs were also present in the meeting.

Dr. K.K. Nagata while delivering the speech to the audience, stressed the role of media in supporting the educations and its important role in changing societies. She added that role of internet and social media in the current subtle in the Arab World. Arshad Saeed Khan indicated the challenges of new media ecosystem and developing trends in the era of modern digital media.

He also pointed out the stubborn realities and problems pertaining to education sector in Pakistan and also indicated that seven million children were not able to get the right of free education while over 50 million people were uneducate4d in the country.

UNESCO’s Senior National Specialist (Education) also applauded Geo TV for continuous pursuing the cause of education through ‘One Million signature Campaign’ and compelled others to follow the cause. PACADE president Inayatullah felt great pleasure on the role of media and added that it had value in ever-developing societies. Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal asserted the need for managing workshops and training programs for the capacity building of journalist.
