Pakistani Students Brilliant in Genius Olympiad
Islamabad, A Pakistani student was awarded with silver medal in an international competition over environmental matters arranged by the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego.
In the Genius Olympiad competition, students belonging from forty countries took part and presented about 657 projects in which the project presented by Shadab Rasool Buriro from Khairpur Sindh received 2nd position and won silver medal. There is another Pakistani student named Abdul Daim belongs to Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was given away the honorable mention certificate.
Both students Shadab Rasool and Abdul Daim of Pak-Turk schools presented their project in the competition under title, “Removal of Pollutants from Industrial Waste Water by Usage of Tea Waste”. They had found a unique and most economical method to minimize soil pollution, which has been added by man-made poisonous materials which destroy the animal and plant life badly.
Pakistan won silver medal in first Genius Olympiad which was carried out in 2011 and up till now Pakistani students won 124 medals in the international and national competitions by showing their extraordinary and God gifted talents resulting in excellent achievements.
According to the supervisor of the student, Ahmet Efeturk, the students got a chance to look projects made by other students. They also took part in workshops, conferences, cultural events, exhibitions and interacted with the brightest young minds of the world.
Furthermore, experienced teachers and scholars from Harvard, Cornell, Syracuse and SUNY delivered their lectures during this mega event on the learning styles and ways to improve skills.
Both the students are now on a one-week trip to Turkey which has been started from 30th June 2012 as announced earlier by the administration of the Pak-Turk International Schools and Colleges.
