Punjab Govt to set up Elementary Board for class 5 and 8

To conduct class 5 and 8 class exams, Punjab Government is planning to establish ‘Elementary Board’ on division level. With Punjab Examination Commission (PEC), the contract of Punjab government will end in 2015 and after that, Elementary Board will be organized. According to sources, within three months an initial structure will be prepared for establishment of board.

PEC is the current regulatory body for class 5 and 8 exams and it was created by Punjab government in 2005. For all the students of Punjab, the body every year organizes the elementary and middle standard exams. The exams are conducted in February and PEC declares the results on March 31.

PEC sends the roll number slips to district authorities for verification, after registering the students. PEC is responsible to make corrections if the district authorities find any error and send back to PEC. Then PEC issues final roll no. slips to all districts of Punjab and they further provided it to respective private students and schools.
