Secondary Education System in UK
The secondary education in the United Kingdom basically starts for all those students that are at the age of 11 years but in some parts of the UK there are some middle schools that educate the students that are up to 12 or 13 years of age. For all international students that are coming to the UK to get secondary education can enter when they are 11 or they can wait when they are 13 and have to attend one year in the school before starting any GCSE program. Actually all the GCSE programs run from 14 years age to 16 years of age.
Students in the UK when are in between the ages of 11-14 then they will have to study a broad range of different subjects that includes music, English, Science and Math etc. When ever students reach 14 then they will automatically enter in to their first year of their 02 years process which is known as GCSE. Actually the GCSE are set of exams and are those exams that test the knowledge and skills of the students. Most of the students have to follow the same rules and methods when ever it comes to GCSE and you will have to take the following core subjects that are Maths, English and Science (science either separated or combined such as Biology, Chemistry and Physics).
After that students have to select an additional GCSE of 4 or 5 subjects that includes French, Business Studies, German, Sport Science, Music, Geography, Design and Technology, History and many other different options. In some schools of the UK, students also take 5 to 10 GCSE’s because they have the ability and drive. For all independent type of schools that are usually more results oriented and is not uncommon for students to take as many GCSE’s as they can. In the UK the GCSE’s take total of 02 years and also mark the compulsory educations end.
