Services of Former Dean Prof. Dr. Farrukh Hussain Applauded

The faculty and staff members of University of Peshawar has paid rich tribute to the tremendous services rendered by the outgoing Dean Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. Farrukh Hussain who retired from University service on December, 31, 2011.

A formal farewell ceremony was held in this reference arranged by Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Azmat Hayat Khan on Tuesday.

The Vice Chancellor praised the contributions of the former dean towards uplift of academia and research in the University. He said that Dr. Farrukh has established the Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology in UoP in the year 2001 which has produced best researchers in this field for the country.

Dr. Azmat said that as a subordinate he was very easy to work with and when in august 2008, “I gave him the assignment of making effective use of Azakhel Botanical Garden, he delivered and now it is a perfect place for academic, research, recreation and preservation of engendered plant species.

Having three hundred and twenty research publications in the field of Biology, Prof. Dr. Farrukh Hussain has been awarded with Presidential award in 1998, best teacher award by HEC besides having many more distinctions to his name. He has also remained chairman of Botany Department, UoP.

he function was attended by Staff and faculty members of Department of Botany, Registrar Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi, Controller Examinations Iftikhar Hussain Khan, all deans and other officer and teachers of the University.
