The evidence of the human’s habitation in the country of Malaysia dates back to more than 40,000 years and the first inhabitants that are thought are Negritos. As early as the first century different traders and settlers that are from China and India arrived in the 1st century AD and in the 2nd and 3rd centuries they established towns and trading ports. This also resulted in the strong Chinese and Indian influence on the local cultures of Malaysia. Due to this the peoples of the Malay Peninsula adopted the religious of the Buddhism and Hinduism.

 

The Sanskrit inscriptions appear in the early 4th century or 5th century. Between the centuries of 7th and 13th, the most of the area of the south of the Malay Peninsula was under the rule of the Srivijaya Empire. In the early 15th century, the Malacca Sultanate was founded by the Parameswara which was the prince of the former Srivijayan Empire. The Parameswara after some years became Muslim and with this conversion of Malay to Islam religion was accelerated in the 15th century.

 

Actually the Malacca was a very important commercial centre during these days and also attracts the trade from the all around the region. In the year 1511 the Malacca was conquered by the Portugal and after that it was easily taken by the Dutch in the year 1641. In the year 1786, the British Empire also set their foot in Malay after the Sultan of Kedah Leased Penang to the East India Company of the British. The British firstly took control of Singapore in the year 1819 and than in the year 1824 they took control of the Malacca and made it the Anglo-Dutch Treaty.

 

In the World War II the Malaya, Sarawak, Sabah and Singapore were occupied by the Japanese Army for the time duration of three years. In the year 1946, the Malayan Union was established and was consist of the British possessions in the Malay Paninula. In the year 1963, Malaya with British colonies that were of Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore federated to form a country known as Malaysia.
