According to the rules and regulation you can also work part time when you are on full time study and can work under some circumstances that are
1. You can do part time work in New Zealand when you meet the course requirements practical experience or work.
2. You can do part time work during the period of New Year and Christmas holidays when you are full time student and are studying the course from last 12 months or longer.
3. You can do part time work for up to 20 hours in a given week during your academic year and when you are in full time study permit at any private training establishment or any institution of tertiary and has will take at least two more academic years to complete your course.
To work in New Zealand you will surely need to have the conditions of your permit to be changed. When ever you need to work in New Zealand after the completion of your studies than you have to apply for work which should come under the study of work policy from the Immigration and New Zealand website.
