University of Animal Sciences to set in Bahawalpur

According to Cholistan Development Authority Chairman Muhammad Iqbal Channar, the provincial government is planning to develop livestock sector in the area by establishing a University of Animal Sciences in Bahawalpur soon. He said while addressing a consultative workshop for development of 10-year development program for Cholistan.

Channar said that several other development projects are also underway according to the directive of CM Punjab. He said there are more than 2 million cattle in Cholistan where it is the main economic activity of the patriotic and brave people of Cholistan.

He said that he will request the provincial government to establish slaughter houses, cattle markets, vocational training institutes and degree colleges in the area and to set educational quotas for the Cholistani people. He also said that developing wool industry is various important for the region and its people. The rights of Cholistani people will be protected by transparent land allotment program for the region which has been finalized by the government. Bahawalpur commissioner Saqib Zafar told that during the flood season, the Cholistan region will be provided 1200 cusec water through Mailsi Syphon.

CDA MD Naeem Iqbal said during the occasion that modern technology will be used to enhance development in the region. He said work has been completed on repair of road from Talewala to Mithra, de-silting of 1100 water ponds and construction of 31 roads. He added that water supply pipeline from Kudwala to Banna will soon be constructed. Several MPAs also attended this workshop.
