3 Pakistanis Shortlisted for International Teacher Prize 2016

Three Pakistani teachers have been shortlisted in top 50 nominees for 2nd Annual International Teacher Prize 2016. Like the Nobel Prize for teaching, International teacher prize is available with one million dollars and this prize is awarded to the brilliant and intelligent teacher, who performed well in his academic period. There are about 50 nominees from about 8 thousands nominee as they received application forms from 148 states across the world. In this long list, the application forms from 29 nations have been received and three Pakistani teachers including Humaira Bachal, Neelofir Ali and Aqeela Asifi.

Humaira Bachal posted her bio-data on the Global Teacher Prize official website and she favored the girls education in the country and she is the first woman in her family, who completed her education. At the age of twelve years, she started teaching her friends, when she returned from school.

Aqeela Asifi started her school in Kot Chandana, which is the migrant community of Pakistan and she started giving education in the borrowed tent. She started education and also counseling to refugees and local girls, which can help to facilitate in interaction among the girls. She also started the cross-cultural exchange programs including the tolerance, social cohesion and peaceful co-existence among the Afghan refugees.

Neelofir started her first Montessori school located in Gilgit Baltistan. She introduced the model of Early Childhood Development and the inspiring teaching style in the area. The committee has prepared the list of 50 qualified teachers, in which the final 10 teachers will be selected in February 2016and the winners will be announced in March at International Education and Skills Forums located in Dubai.
