Chinese Ambassador Scholarship at Quaid-i-Azam University

The Chinese ambassador scholarship program is started at Quaid-e-Azam University for the first time. This scholarship program will help the students, who are financially and socially deprived and they can show their potential in the respective educational fields and they can play the important role in the socio economic development of the country after completing their education.

The Chinese ambassador, Sun Weidong has inaugurated the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship program for the undergraduate students, who are getting education at the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) at Quaid-e-Azam University. The agreement of the scholarship program was signed by Dr Javed Ashraf, Vice Chancellor of the University and the ambassador of China to Pakistan, Sun Weidong.

The Chinese ambassador provided the funds for the implementation of the scholarship program by handing over of the cheque of $29,500. Large number of students and the senior faculty members like Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Director SPIR attended the ceremony in which the warm welcome was presented to the ambassador and the briefing is given to him about the department. The Dean faculty of Social Sciences Dr Syed Waqar Ali also attended the ceremony.

The Chinese ambassador said that this is the first scholarship program of its kind, which is offered by the Chinese embassy to the students of Pakistan. He also said that ten students will be selected and they will be the part of the MPhil degree programs and they will get the amount of Rs.150,000/- on need and merit basis.

He further added that this scholarship program has the objective of providing help to the deserving students, who are capable in their relevant field but they are facing financial problem in pursuing their professional career and it will also help them to undertake their future studies. This scholarship program will also help the students to play their role in the socio economic development of the country.

He also mentioned the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has shown the true friendship of both the countries and it brought this friendship to the new height. This friendship entered into the new stage of development in the form of CPEC and about 17 new and major development projects are being undertaken across the country. These projects will bring new change in the socio economic development and fulfill the new dreams of skilled youth. Dr Ashraf, VC of QAU thanked the Ambassador of China for the provision of the scholarship program for the students and chose QAU for the start of this unique program, which can facilitate the deserving students and will appreciate their contribution and commitment toward academic excellence.
