Is IELTS as hard as I hear?
The IELTS Exam is considered one of the most difficult and rigorous of all the exams that test English-language skills. In addition to testing your skills at what most candidates consider an advanced level, it adds several additional pressures. There are many practices that are specific to it, it expects you to perform tasks in specific ways that are not always spelled out in the instructions, and it expects you to write and speak using formats that are unique to it – again without explanation of those formats at the time you take the test. Also, there is considerable time pressure throughout the test. Many candidates find it difficult to complete the Reading and Writing tasks in one hour each. Others find the Listening task too fast (the tape is played only once) and the Speaking task too rigorous in expecting them to speak for relatively long periods without pauses.

What happens if I don’t get the score I want?
Probably, you will have to take the IELTS Exam again. Only one of the band scores that combine to make up your total band score, Speaking, can be contested by candidates. Getting the IELTS testing centre to raise your Speaking band score, usually by just one point, is seldom sufficient to raise the overall band score as much as candidates need.
What if my English skills are nowhere near the level I see when I look at IELTS sample materials?
Then it is probably the best use of your time to work on improving your basic English skills first. There’s no way to rush the learning of a language as difficult as English. IELTS examiners say that the rule of thumb is that raising an IELTS band score by half a point requires at least six months of hard, dedicated study. Many students are under the false impression that taking an IELTS preparation course will improve their English-language skills. While it probably will to some degree, a thorough IELTS preparation course will be fully taken up by teaching you the ways the IELTS Exam is composed and administered, how each of the tasks works, and the various formats for writing and speaking that meet the specific requirements of the IELTS Test. The good news is that you can work on your English skills anytime and for free. Practicing reading English magazines and newspapers (feature articles only), listening to English radio and TV programmes, and watching English-language movies paying as much attention to the English as to the subtitles are great ways to improve your overall English skills. Exposing yourself to the sound of English – radio, TV, even songs – every chance you get provides indispensable training in listening. And it’s fun and you can do it times you might otherwise just waste, such as when you’re bathing and dressing or stuck in traffic.

Can I take the IELTS Exam on computer?
Until very recently, no. IELTS strictly limited you to paper and pencil (not even pen). However, very soon, many IELTS testing centres will begin offering a version of the exam you can take on computer and, within a few years, you can expect that to be standard at IELTS testing centres throughout the world.

Can I cancel or extend the test date after registration.
After the registration, if you want to extend your test date please inform the test centre at least five (5) weeks before the test. Rs.1750(Pak rupee) is charge for extension of test date. Extensions are allowed once only.

Candidates must submit a completed Refund Request Form along with the original bank deposit slip more than five weeks/34 days prior to the test date. However, 25% of the test fee will be deducted regardless of the circumstances that the candidate experiences. Candidates who elect to cancel their registration after the five-week cut off date prior to the test will receive no refund and their registration will be considered cancelled.

When can I repeat the test as I wish to improve my band?
You can repeat the exam as often as you like.

What can the candidate bring into the examination room?
Only pens, pencils and erasers. Correction fluid must not be used. You must leave anything which you do not need, or which is not allowed, either outside the examination room, or as instructed by the supervisor. Mobile phones and pagers must be switched off and placed with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor. Any candidate who does not switch off their phone/pager, or who retains one in their possession, will be disqualified.
