Government College University Awards four PhDs in Maths

Lahore, Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences of Government College University Lahore has awarded four PhD degrees to the students completing their research in mathematics.

The Faculty member of Government College University, Waqas Nazir has completed his research work on the topic “Optimal Couples of Rearrangement Invariant Spaces for the Riesz, Bessel and Fractional Maximal Operators”. He completed his research thesis under the supervision of foreign mathematician Dr G. E. Karadzhov.

The other three candidates including Muhammad Ahsan Binyzmin, Mariam Imtiaz and Sumiya Nasir have done their research work on the topic “Computing in Singularity Theory”, “On the Factorial Closure of Certain Monomial Modules”, and “Stanley Decompositions and Localizations”. They have completed their research work under the supervision of various foreign mathematicians Dr Peter Schenzel, Dr Juergen Herzong and Dr Gerhard Pfister.
