There are different artists, who have developed their skills in creating the fake degrees of different universities. These counterfeit degrees have great similarities with the original degrees and one cannot find differences in these degrees. The Higher Education Commission is the legal department, which can check the degrees and also verifies the degrees after checking them and it has decided to launch the online system for taking action against the fake degrees.

HEC has designed and developed the online system which will not only verify the degree as valid or not but also attest the degree after finding it original one. The HEC has issued the official statement, which determines the recognition and equivalence of degrees, certificates and diplomas awarded by different institutes and university within the country and abroad. Here is the complete process, which is expected to work for applicants to get their degrees attested online.

  • Individuals will upload relevant certificate or degree
    • Academic credentials.
    • Identity documents.
  • The system will check the information provided by the applicant by contacting NADRA and PQR database.
  • Controller of Examinations will have complete access to view the certificates, diploma or degree to assess their legitimacy.
  • If the documents are found authentic, the system will attest the documents and contact the applicant.

Pakistan Qualification Register (PQR)

Pakistan Qualification Register provides the information database of the universities, which provide education to the students. PQR provides the information regarding campuses, degree programs, departments and exact titles and level of qualification, which will be saved in the database for the evaluation.

This data is also linked to the database of NADRA and the system will be linked with PQR. When the applicant send the degree for attestation, if the degree program of the relevant university is not found in database of PQR, the applicants will not be able to get attested their degree.

This database is provided as the security measure and it works as the filter to the fake degree. With the provision of the database of PQR and NADRA, the fake degrees are checked and they are eliminated.

Verification Via Controller Examination

Verification through the controller of examination is the most crucial step of the checking of the fake degrees as this is the first time that controller of examination will perform their crucial duty for the verification of the documents.

The controller of examination will be provided with the control of system and they will check the uploaded scanned copies of applicants like provisional certificate, transcript or the degree. The controller of exams will verify the legitimacy of the documents online and they will complete this process within 24 hours. If they do not complete this process within one day then the universities will be asked through email to complete this process of verification of the documents immediately.

Conclusion

This is the necessary initiative, which HEC should have been taken for the attestation of the degrees but they will have to verify the documents first and it is enough to do the verification process to ensure the legitimacy of the degrees and certificates.

The applicants will have some unanswered questions, which come in the minds about the new system.

  • The students think that this is the optional or compulsory process even if their degree is already attested?
  • They want to know whether job applications require attestation of degrees online.
  • If the degree is identified as fake then what action will be taken against the responsible persons?

The correct information is launched about the system and the applicants should keep visiting this page to get the latest updates.
