Instructions for the IELTS Test

1. Test Fee is PKR 12,000.

2. Test Report Form will remain valid for 2 years.

3. There are two organs under investigation for IELTS:
* British Council
* AEO

4. Test Centres British Council in Pakistan:
Lahore *
Karachi *
Islamabad *
* Multan
Faisalabad *
* Hyderabad

5. Test Centres are AEO
Islamabad *
Karachi *
Lahore *

6. You should try to register for IELTS test at least 2 months before your chosen test date as later on you may find difficulties in finding a seat.

7. You can check or IELTS results after 13 days of your test.

8. You can repeat the test as many times as you want to improve your score.

9. Answer all questions. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

10. Total test duration 2 hours and 45 minutes.

11. Make sure you visited the location of the test a few days before the test date. To at least half hour earlier than the stated date of notification. Arriving late could you send stress levels soaring and the exam you should definitely relaxed and ready to give your best.

12. The British Council offers preparatory courses for IELTS. A four day intensive course is held prior to the date of the test. The course can be a good idea as it gives you an insight into IELTS, along with lots of practice. I think it would not help those whose level is very poor. It would be very useful for those sometime in the middle of the spectrum. Similarly AEO also offer courses.

13. There is no gap between the parts of the test. This means that about 3 to 3.5 hours, you can not eat, drink or visit the toilet. So be ready.

14. Wear your original valid passport and if required. The letter gave you the location of the test and your roll number. The reception for the IELTS fee is another document that is sometimes required. Take it too.

15. Take several sharpened pencils, a sharpener, an eraser and pens. Put all parts of the test in pencil. For listening and reading, using a pencil is required.

16. Time is a crucial factor, so bring a watch and appropriate time for each section.
