In the matriculate level exams 2016 in KPK province, all the top positions are achieved by students of private schools and there is no presence of government schools in this regard. It is against the claims of provincial government that education in government institutes is improving. No student from government schools can achieve positions in the exams conducted by educational boards of Peshawar, Abbottabad, DI Khan, Mardan, Swat, Kohat and Malakand.

In SSC exams 2016 for BISE Peshawar, the passing percentage remained 79.97% while only 2 students from government schools could get their names in top 20 positions. The result of BISE Mardan remained 71% and no student from government schools could make place in the top 10 positions. The passing percentage of other academic boards of KPK remained following: BISE DI Khan (76.97%), BISE Malakand (74.67%), BISE Kohat (68.03%) and BISE Abbottabad (76.34%).

Additional Secretary of KP Elementary & Secondary Education Department said that government is providing important facilities like teachers’ training, appointment of teachers and other things for improvement in educational system due to which many students of private schools have joined government schools. He added that students of government schools have achieved positions in top 20 students and hopefully they will be present in top 3 positions next year.
