Medical College Admission Test 2017

University of Health Sciences Lahore conducted the entry test for the MBBS and BDS classes from the eligible candidates. UHS received the admission forms from the candidates, who want to get admission in the medical colleges and universities located in the Punjab province. The UHS managed the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) in the big cities of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Sahiwal, DG Khan, Rahim yar Khan, Sialkot and Hassanabdaal. Total 28 centers were made in all these cities and the students appeared in their admission test in their nearest centers on 20 August 2017. It is reported that over 65,000 students appeared in the admission test for the medical and dental colleges.

The admission test of the candidates was conducted under surveillance of the closed circuit cameras (CCTV) and there were total 5500 invigilators, who supervised the test. The centers were added with mobile phone jammers and walkthrough gates were also established there. For the security and safety of the centers, the police personnel and fire brigades were also deployed  and the generators were also set up to provide the back up at some of the centers. The special arrangements were made for the disabled students and the parents were facilitated with proper parking and waiting areas were also provided to them.

 

The VC of UHS visited various centers and he monitored the arrangements in Lahore and there was no mishap or accident reported at these centers during the test and the parents and candidates expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements.

Seats Allocations

There were total 5995 MBBS and BDS seats, which are reserved in the public and private colleges of the Punjab province for the students, who are undertaking the MDCAT. The allocation of the seats is given as follow:

  • 3405 MBBS seats in 17 public sector medical college in Punjab
  • 216 BDS seats in three public dental colleges of Punjab
  • 2590 MBBS seats are reserved in 21 private medical colleges, which are affiliated with UHS.
  • 555 BDS seats in the nine dental colleges, affiliated with UHS.

The officials of UHS will declare the admission test result within one week. The students, who will get minimum 84% marks, they will be eligible to apply for the MBBS and BDS class on merit. The marks in these programs will be calculated on the criteria, which is formulated by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).  The students can send their application forms from October 4 to 14 and the first selection list for medical and dental colleges will be displayed on October 30 and the classes in the medical colleges will be started on November 13.

The VC of UHS talked with media and said that medical and dental colleges test the brightest minds and the competition is getting tough among the students. The result of MDCAT is very important and they carry 50 percent weightage in merit as per formula of PMDC.
