PMDC stops admission to medical college for academic session 2016-17

Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has halted the admissions of the candidates for the academic session 2016-17 in the privately-owned medical & dental college and university due to deficiency of faculty and other facilities in these institutes.
PMDC President Shabbir Lehri and Executive Committee member Dr Farrukh Ejaz visited the Yusra Medical & Dental College in order to check the standard of education and inspect the facilities provided to the students by the college. After inspection, PMDC president ordered to stop admissions in the college for the academic session 2016-17 and expressed displeasure over the deficiencies.
During the visit, the PMDC president said that lots of complaints were receive about the financial matters, and deficiencies in academics and faculty of Yusra Medical & Dental College. He told that he decided to personally visit the college in order to know about the reality of these complaints.

He added that the standard of college is not even according to the minimum criteria set by PMDC which is to provide training of 100 MBBS students. Apart from that, another damaging aspect for the institute is the division of the college administration in three groups.
He also said that college is violating the role of PMDC by renting a 150 bedded hospital instead of its own hospital while this hospital is also lacking the departments of ENT, Gynecology and Eye while the rate of bed rental was also bad.
The president ordered about the investigation about the whole matter including academic, financial, managerial and administrational issues while PMDC will later check about the improvement of facilities in the college.

The president told that PMDC will start surprise visit of every private college in order to check the standard of all the recognized colleges and also those who want to achieve registration from PMDC. He expressed hope that these steps will increase the standard of colleges registered with PMDC.
