UoP Students Increase in Fee Protest

Peshawar, University of Peshawar has announced 10% annual increase in the fee of the semester and the students of the university staged a protest against such increase in fee. The students demanded that the administration of the university should take back this decision of increase in fee. The aspirants were also demanded for the provision of the university transport and security to the female students of the university. The representatives of the students presented the list of the demands to the VC of the university focusing on welfare and protection of the students in the campus.

At first the VC of Peshawar University refused to meet with the students. After some time, the talks were conducted in which the students presented their demands before the VC but he did not accept many demands. The demands of the students are included with taking back the decision of 10% annual increase in the tuition, hostel, admission and other fee, provide the transport and hostel facilities, offer the scholarships to the needy and deserving students and also conduct the inquiry in the irregularities in the provision and solve the issues of the students. They also demanded for organizing exams for dropped out students, take up the issue of the BS programs registration and degree of Institute of Education and Research with HEC, issue research grant for PhD and MS programs and restore the BA and MA programs and also provide the protection to the female students against harassment by the staff.
