Early Childhood Syllabus Introduced

Lahore, Plan International Pakistan has introduced the Early Childhood Education (ECE) syllabus on Thursday which would be directed in 101 of the total 390 government schools, rebuilt in flood-hit regions of the Southern Punjab.

Plan International Pakistan, an international child rights development organization, has arranged the launching ceremony. The chief guest of the ceremony was Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman.

The minister said that education is the top priority of the Punjab government and it enhanced the ratio of education with the rate of 58 percent in the province throughout Pakistan by reserving enough amounts for education in the budget. Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman congratulated Plan International for their sound determinations in introducing syllabus for early childhood education in Punjab.

He further added that there are 59,053 schools 377,481 teachers and 10679244 students in government schools in Punjab who are contributing equally to make next generation a successful and prosperous in the literate Punjab. The Punjab government had also made strict commitment for provision of furniture in all government schools. Kamboh informed that a budget of Rs 200 million would be spent on giving early childhood education in 2000 schools.

The Country Director of Plan International Pakistan, Rashid Javed said that Plan International had been focusing on the development of relegated children and early childhood care for the past 75 years. He further told that Plan International has been functioning in more than 50 developing countries and started its function in Pakistan in 1997 giving emphasis on early childhood education and health.

He also added that Plan International Pakistan had reestablished about 390 schools in three flood affected districts of the province in this year and these schools had been handed over to the government. Chairman Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), Raja Muhammad Anwar also addressed on the occasion.
