GCU Established Naqoosh Research Centre
Lahore, The foundation stone of Naqoosh Research Centre (NRC) has been laid down at the post graduate library of Government College University (GCU) in association with historical literary house. The objective of the establishment of Naqoosh research Centre is to extend the interest of students and researchers in Urdu literature.
The opening ceremony has been celebrated by Vice Chancellor of Government College University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad khaleeq-ur-Rehman along with various well reputed writers. This is only one research centre of Urdu literature being established in any university of Pakistan.
The research centre is provided with Urdu library and reading room which is a masterpiece. Naqoosh Museum is comprised of more than 10,000 literary letters and documents of well known poets and writers consisting of Mirza Ghalib, Allama Muhammad Iqbal and many more.
While delivering the speech top the inaugurating ceremony, well reputed Urdu critic, Dr. Saleem Akhtar that healthy society is made up of mixture of language and culture. On the occasion Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rehman said that Government College University is striving hard to pay equal attention to humanity, social and natural sciences and it also has established the Directorate of research, Innovation and Commercialization to extend research in all fields.
He also suggested the Naqoosh House to memorize the death anniversary of Late Muhammad Tufail who was the editor of Naqoosh at GCU yearly.
