GMAC – Graduate Management Admission Council
GMAC is the owner and administrator of the GMAT exam. Created in 1954, the GMAT is the first and only standardized test specifically designed for graduate business and management programs.
CAT – Computer Adaptive Test
The computer-based GMAT is what is termed a ‘computer-adaptive’ test. This means that within the verbal and quantitative sections not all students will see the same questions.

GMAT Format and Timing
The GMAT exam consists of three main parts, the Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative section, and the Verbal section. You have three and a half hours in which to take the GMAT exam, but plan for a total time of approximately four hours.
Validity of GMAT
The GMAT is valid for 5 years and no college will refuse to accept it within this time period. Trouble with scores is that historically the score at a particular percentile level has been going up and this can work to your disadvantage if you delay your application to later years.
