Jinnah University for Women was founded in 1998 by an act passed by the Sindh government and is recognised by the The University Grants Commission of Pakistan.The University has 20 departments offering various Graduate and Postgraduate degree courses. The university is currently ranked at No.24 in general category of HEC rankings.

The Jinnah University campus comprises four buildings that is Block A, Block B, Block C, Block D and Admission section, all of which includes Lecture halls, Classrooms, Laboratories, Museums, Faculty rooms and Seminar libraries. The university is located in Nazimabad, Karachi.
