A law graduate who wants to get enrolment as an advocate in order to practice law has to pass an Assessment Test after which he will become enabled to apply to a Bar Council, according to the Pakistan Legal Practitioners & Bar Councils Rules 1976.

Now the responsibility to conduct Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT) for this purpose has been assigned to the National Testing Service (NTS) by Pakistan Bar Council.

Eligibility Criteria
After passing LLB (final year) from a PBC recognized university and having minimum 17 years of education, the candidates can apply for LAW-GAT test.

Other Terms and Conditions

Graduates of LAW can only apply.
Candidates have to submit original LLB degree with copies of LLB part 1,2 and 3 mark sheets while detailed transcript of LLB (final year) has to be submitted in case LLB degree not been issued.
There are three chances for candidates to clear the test while NTS conducts the LAW-GAT test three times in a year.
Students can’t apply if they are waiting for results.
Other criteria of PCB have to be met by the candidates.
Minimum 50% marks are required to pass the test.

Schedule

The schedule of LAW-GAT for year 2016 has been issued by National Testing Service. Like previous years, NTS will again conduct three LAW-GAT tests this year also that will be held in the months of January, May and September 2016. The registration process will complete according to a regular schedule. According to details, registration process will start around 40 days before the tests while it will be completed 15 days before the tests.

Applications should reach NTS™ office latest by last date of submission of Registration Form.
NTS™ will not be responsible for late receiving of application through Courier / Pakistan Post etc.
