Punjab Govt to End Quota System in 12 Public Varsities

Lahore, Punjab Government has announced that the quota system for grant of admission to the children of the VVIP class will be ended. The government has taken the step to restore the fundamental rights of the talented and intelligent students of the poor and righteous families of the country. The government of Punjab has taken this step for the removal of the quota system from 12 different public universities and colleges. Before this, 15% quota was reserved for the students of the VVIP cadre and they were given admission in the colleges and universities irrespective of their talents and their performance.

Now it is has been acclaimed that it is the right of the talented and intelligent students to get admission in the higher colleges and universities on the merit base and their talent should not be ignored. To empower the merit base in the schools and colleges, it is pertinent to abolish the quota system from the colleges and universities.

The government got the positive result from the removal of the quota system from Aitchison College and the administration of the Aitchison College granted the admission to the students on the merit base. Before this, the government of Punjab has issued orders to the education department for the abolishment of quota system from the 12 different government colleges and universities. The vice chancellors were also exercised the extra and special power for grant of admission to the students on the quota system.

The personalities and the relatives of VVIP got admission for their children on the quota system ignoring the merit system, which was imposed on the talented and intelligent students of the poor and needy families. With the implementation of this merit system, the total 25 students were not given the admission on the quota basis and they were given the admission. in place of those students, 25 other students were given admission on the merit base.
