The country of Norway is actually a country that occupies the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula, the artic archipelago of the Svalbard, Jan Mayen and Bouvet Island. The country of Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometers and has round about 5 million populations. The country of Norway is actually the second least densely populated country in the whole Europe. The majority of the country of Norway shares border from the east with the Sweden, the northern most region of Norway is also bordered with Finland to the south region and the Russia to the east. The Norway also has border in its south with Skagerrak Strait across the Denmark.
The capital city of Norway is Oslo and its extensive coastline faces North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea as well. A constitution was adopted in the year 1814 and resisted the cession of their country. After some years Sweden invaded Norway but agreed to let the Norway to keep their constitution with out any change. In the start of the year 1960 there were many discoveries of the gas and oil in the water which boosted the economic of Norway fortune. Norway is a country which was rejected to be a member of European Union but it keeps very close ties with the European Union and also with its member countries and also with the US.
Norway is also the biggest financial contributors to the UN and also participated with the forces of the United Nations in all type of international missions that include Kosovo, Afghanistan, Libya and Sudan. Norway is also the founding member of the NATO, United Nations, the Nordic Council and the Council of Europe. Norway also has an extensive reserve of natural gas, lumber, petroleum, seafood, minerals, hydropower and fresh water. With the universal health care, comprehensive social security system and subsidized higher education system the country also maintains a Nordic Welfare. Norway is also a country which has highest human development index ranking in the world.
